Manufacturer Signs MoU With Makna To Combat Cancer
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 (Bernama) -- Gesundheit Laboratories and Pharmaceutical Sdn Bhd, the manufacturer of ECPI drinking water, Saturday established a corporate social responsibility (CSR) partnership with the National Cancer Council (Makna) to combat cancer.
Its founder, Prof Emeritus Sir Dr Amir Hamzah said the partnership comprised sponsorship in the form of cash, cancer awareness programmes, branding and advertising opportunities amounting to RM668,000.
"The partnership with Makna is only a starting points towards a lot more partnerships with other non-profit health organisations in the country," he said at a press conference after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Makna here Saturday.
Dr Amir said under the ECPI product label, the company would assist Makna by contributing half of the advertising space on billboards in seven locations nationwide and cover the costs in organising Makna's Cancer Awareness Programmes in five states.
Meanwhile Makna's president Datuk Mohd Farid Ariffin said Makna welcomed donations from the public to ease the cost of cancer treatment.
He said Makna had so far, extended assistance to 14,000 patients at 75 hospitals nationwide.
