Aku rasa takleh tengok kat normal dvd player (yang boleh baca divx). Walaupun engkau punya lcd display tu HD, dia bergantung kepada player DVD tu sendiri. Macam kat US, Cable TV diorang mmg disiarkan dalam HD, baru function HD tu diguna.

Sebab tu dekat tv baru, dia tulis HD Ready... baru ready, kat mesia takder lagi :))

LCD TV aku memang bleh play DiVX dari USB. Memang pun sebelum ni aku layan movie dengan copy divx movie dalam external harrdisk then sambung direct ke USB port di LCD TV aku. Pagi ni nak try HD movie pulak, mcm mana jadi, lawa macam maya karin ke tak. :D

Percubaan aku tak berjaya. Hehehehe. Play kat PC memang boleh, gambar lawa, resolution tinggi. Tapi masalahnya takleh nak play kat LCD TV sebab file movie ni 4.5GB, guna NTFS. LCD TV aku bleh FAT system jadi tak support file 4.5 GB.

Skang ni tgh cari cara nak splitkan movie ni jadi 2 part ke. Sapa2 yang ada cadangan? Aku dh try VCD cutter tapi dia split jadi file type lain. Movie Splitter pun takleh. AVI Splitter pun takleh sebab dia tukar movie quality, aku nak tengok 720p punya kualiti.

Nampak gayanya layan divx biasa la. :D

Payah sangat nak try HD, aku download clip HD je, saiz 185MB. Tapi animation, tak menarik sangat berbanding real movie.

i've tried and i'm not going back. Our pc is actually a very versatile multi format player (even for HD). Better than any standalone player out in the market. Can even handle HD audio.
i've got one for surfing on a 17" LCD and i've got another one hooked up to a 42" LCD capable of 1920 X 1080 resolution.
Seen a few movies/documentaries/live performances in 1920 X 1080 and it's hard to to beat.
Not going back to dvd unless it's something unavailable in HD.
Any queries, please forward to me and i'll do my best to help you guys enjoy HD.

Memang main pakai PC tu cantik sebab boleh sambung ke LCD. Tapi kalau sesiapa yang tak mampu nak upgrade PC atau beli PC baru dia boleh beli DVD player yang ada tulis HDMI ready. Kos dia dalam RM300+, nak gambar cantik kat LCD TV kena beli yang support HDMI (sekarang ni semua ada kot). HDMI cable dalam RM150 satu. Aku dapat free bila beli SONY LCD 40". Sekarang aku pakai Philip HDMI Home theatre. Kos dalam RM1400. Player ni ada USB dan bila main DivX biasapun gambarnya cun giler. Tambah pula AC3 audio. Bergegar 5 speaker tu.

Lagi satu kalau nak convert file ke DVD, aku recommend guna VSO ConvertXtoDVD. Best punya, dah beratus movie aku convert guna ni. Siap ngan menu lagi dan AC3 audio.

Yang aku tulis kat first post tu High Definition movies. Dia guna format x264/h264 atau mpeg-4 version 10. Sekarang ni belum ada DVD player yang support format ni.
Skang ni aku layan kat pc je, lawa gila gambar, aku sambung lcd tv kat second display. guna Media player Classic je. Kena install k-lite mega codec, konfem bleh play kat pc.

Memang HD movie size dia besar. Aku dah try guna h264 sambung terus ke 40" LCD. Gambar memang cun walaupun untuk h264 sizenya 300MB. Kalau 4GB mesti cun punya tapi nak download tu yang lama sangat. Yang untuk convert tu kalau fail yg kecil2 tu je sbb bila convert dan play kat home theater, sound dia jadi AC3 dan gambar lagi clear bila pakai HDMI. Untuk 4GB file tak perlu convert, rugi kualiti gambar nanti. Aku biasanya suka gambar dan sound terbaik. Baru syok tengok.

hi...it's better for me to explain in English as it's impossible to translate some technical terms into Bahasa. apologies.

for anyone interested in hd now without spending tons of cash just get a pc with my minimum specifications (around RM1500 or so) minus the usual lcd. then, obtain a non branded lcd of around 42" with native resolution of 1920 X 1080 at around RM7000 or so. Hook them up with hdmi cable to your large lcd and connect to your home theatre system to enjoy 5.1 surround sound.

the upconverting dvd player with hdmi output is not actually a "true" hd player. for that, you'll need a blu ray/hd dvd player and the bd/hd dvd movies which is kind of expensive.
the player can artificially upconvert 480p to 1080i but is still 480p movie.

however, real 1080i/p movies are really sharp and much clearer than an upconverted 480p movie.

most hd movies of 1920 X 1080 resolution below 2 1/2 hours are able to fit onto a dual layer dvd with DTS 5.1/Dolby Digital 5.1 with efficient compression such as x264 or H264. Some shorter movie of around 90 min can fit onto a single layer dvd.

for movies like Kingdom Of Heaven Director's Cut which is around 3hours 14 minutes, we'll need to split into 2 dvd+r dl just like the original dvd to optimise the audio and visual quality.

the pc is a very powerful player that can play numerous types of files thrown at it as long as the proper codecs are installed and the minimum requirements are met. it can output a better picture quality than the best dvd player and in hd audio. just connect to your amplifier and throw some high end audio files into it and hear better than cd quality sound coming out from your speakers.

most of the movies/music videos that i've seen in hd has a minimum Dolby Digital bitrate of 384 kbps. some can go as high as 640 kbps (by comparison, the highest bitrate is 448 kbps for a dvd)

the DTS can go up from 768 kbps (just as dvd quality) to 1509 kbps (which is better than most dvd quality)

i'm sure all of you will not regret hooking up your pc to your large lcd. Enjoy every hd files now, be it mov, mpeg2, wmv, rmvb, x264, H264, etc. you'll need not buy any dvd player, ever.:)

I agree with you m8 but the only problem with hooking up the PC to LCD is that you need more than one PC, in my house for example as my PC always hook up with internet and my wife's PC always stuck with her work. My daughter's notebook also always stuck with YM. Guess the young ones stuck with the home theater after all.

Another problem is that the kids and my mother in law can't watch the HD movies when no one is around to turn the PC on!

Anyway, PC is still the best for HD movie but you can't see that many movies unless you have a very good speed to download them. Just being practical... my two cents thought

hi again, let's see if i download one hd movie every 2 days, in one year i would be able to get at least 180 movies. my broadband speed is only 1 mbps. For those guys who are able to get 4mbps in Klang valley, that would be more than 700 movies ie 2 hd movies in one day. (at an average of 8 gb per movie)
